How do I setup and light my Ooni 3?

To set up your Ooni 3, follow the steps below:

  1. Wearing protective gloves, unpack your oven and unfold the legs.

  2. Attach the burner body to main body, then assemble the pellet hopper.

  3. Place the flame keeper inside the main body, securing it into the slot.

  4. Attach the chimney, securing it with the chimney clip.

  5. Place the flame guard underneath the stone, and slide both in.

  6. Attach the door handle bracket and handle to the door using the supplied Allen key.

  7. Place your oven on an outdoor surface made of stone, metal, or wood. Tables made of glass or plastic are not recommended. Do not use your oven indoors. 

  8. Allow your oven 1 meter/3 feet of clearance on all sides, and 3 meters/9 feet of clearance above. 

  9. Remove the chimney cap.

  10. Make sure the door is on and only take it off when adding or removing food. 

  11. Fill the pellet grate.

  12. Place a natural firestarter at the lip of the grate. Make sure the firestarters are free from kerosene or other chemical additives.

  13. Light the firestarter and slide the grate back into the burner using the hopper lid handle. Place the hopper lid back on top of the hopper.

  14. If lighting with a blowtorch, point the flame through the hole on the side of the burner. Hold it there for 30-45 seconds or until the pellets are alight. 

  15. Once your pellets are fully alight, add small amounts of pellets gradually. Allow these to light fully before topping up to the level shown in step 16. 

  16. Maintain a pellet level to approximately 2cm (1”) below the top of the hopper throughout the cooking session. 

  17. Gather your pizza peel, dough, and toppings - your oven will be fully preheated in 15 minutes!

  18. Keep an eye on your fuel levels as you cook and top up little and often. A full hopper of pellets will last about 15 minutes.

  19. When using your oven for the first time, let it run at a high temperature (750°F/400°C) for 30 minutes, then cool it down completely to season the oven and ready it for use.
