How will my Ooni oven change over time?

Change is expected when working with fire in Ooni ovens. We embrace these changes and have anticipated them in the design of each model.

Here are the changes you might expect to see.

Patina, oxidation, or rust: Your oven will regularly reach 930˚F (500˚C), so some change in color is to be expected. You may also notice some rust forming on areas that get particularly hot (such as the steel above the burner). This can be brushed off easily, and is simply the sign of a well-loved Ooni!

Small gaps: You may see small gaps come and go. This is nothing to worry about - there are tolerances built into your oven to account for the natural movement of metal during heat cycling.

Soot buildup: You will always have some soot when cooking with solid fuels (especially charcoal). This can be wiped off easily by following the cleaning instructions linked below.

Changes in color to the baking stone: It’s normal for your baking stone to change color after multiple firings. You don’t need a pristine baking stone to cook great pizza!

None of these changes will affect the way your oven performs so please continue to keep on cooking!

Our ovens are built to last, and they come with a manufacturer's warranty for 1 year as standard for your peace of mind. You can extend this warranty for free by registering your oven within 60 days of purchase - please see our warranty page for full details. These cosmetic changes are not covered by our warranty, but if you feel that your oven’s performance has been affected in any way, please get in touch with us and we’ll be able to help.

To keep your Ooni looking its best, store it under a carry cover when leaving outside, and store indoors or in a covered area if not in use for an extended period of time. Make sure you also follow the cleaning instructions linked below:
