My Ooni Fyra 12 is producing lots of smoke/soot.

When cooking with solid fuels, there will always be some smoke and soot produced. You can minimize this however by following the tips below: 

  • Use hardwood pellets or EN Plus A1 accredited softwood pellets (our Ooni Premium Pizza Oven Pellets are perfect).

  • Add small amounts of pellets at a time into the hopper. Avoid adding too many pellets at once or forcing pellets down.

  • Only remove the door when launching, turning or removing your pizza.

  • Position your oven so that any wind enters through the back instead of the front.

  • Store your pellets in an airtight container to prevent any moisture from getting in.

  • Tap on the hopper with the pellet scoop occasionally to loosen any pellets which have swelled up in the heat.
