I’m having trouble lighting my Ooni Koda 12.

Before following the steps below, please read the following safety advice:

  • Always stand clear of your oven when igniting - ensure nobody is within 1 metre (3ft) of the front of the oven.
  • Always allow 5-minute intervals between lighting attempts. This is to allow time for any gas to disperse.
  • Make sure to read through the safety manual for your region: America and Canada, UK and Europe or Australia and New Zealand

If you're having trouble lighting your Ooni Koda 12, begin by detaching your regulator from your propane tank. Wait 5 minutes, then reconnect your regulator to your propane tank and re-light.

If your oven isn't lighting after this, run through the checklist below:

  • Make sure your propane tank is full.
  • Make sure the connections to your propane tank and regulator are secure.
  • Make sure there are no leaks in your gas hose by using a leak detector spray or by using soapy water (full instructions on how to do a gas leak test here).
  • Make sure you are only taking 5 seconds to turn the control dial and keeping the knob pushed in for a further 5 seconds after ignition.

If you've run through the checklist above and your oven still isn't lighting:

  • Detach your regulator from the propane tank and allow the oven to cool down.
  • While wearing protective gloves, spray some compressed air towards the piezo (ignition tip) to clean any soot / debris. The piezo is circled in red below.
  • Re-attach the gas and follow the checklist above with the safely advice.

If your oven isn't lighting but you can hear gas flowing, you can use the provided matchstick holder to manually light your oven in the meantime. To carry this out, follow the instructions in this article: How do I light my Ooni Koda 12 using the matchstick holder

Do not attempt to manually light the gas burner without the use of the matchstick holder.
